2014

Before the merger into VinUni University Project, VinAcademy (now College of Business Management & College of Engineering and Computer Science) and Vinmec University of Medicine (now College of Health Sciences) were two separate projects running in parallel.

3rd September 2015

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Viet (Head of Operations) joined VinUniversity

November 2015

Decided to move VinUni campus to Vinhomes Ocean Park, all design processes were back to the initial stages.

February

Engaged Parthenon (E&Y) and Oxford Innovation (Oxford University) as international consultants to develop a feasibility plan to establish a brand new university - a breakthrough in higher education in Vietnam.

12th December, 2016

VinUni team went to top universities in the United States and sought our potential partners. VinUni've met the leaders from Cornell University, who believed in VinUni's mission and agreed to consider a collaboration.

January 2017

Cornell came to VinUni to sign MOU, paritcurlaly, they entered into a multi-year academic consulting contract with VinUniversity, Vingroup.

August 2017

Professor Rohit Verma joined the VinUniversity-Cornell Project, Protem Committee Member

2017

VinAcademy and Vinmec University of Medicine merged into one.

March 2018

Vingroup announced its plan to enter the field of higher education under the name of VinUniversity.

April 2018

The official signing ceremony with Cornell University and University of Pennsylvania

Groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of VinUniversity campus.

Mrs. Pham Thanh Hao (Head of Human Resources) joined VinUniversity

2019

The team then was only 10-12 people (including 2 Deans of CECS and CHS)

Dr. Vu Anh Dzung (Dean of College of Arts and Sciences) joined VinUniversity

July 2019

Professor Rohit Verma come to Vietnam, VinUniversity

VinUniversity Project announced the admission directives for the academic year 2020 - 2021 with 3 Colleges: CBM, CECS, CHS

November 2019

VinUni office was moved from Times City to VinUni campus in Gia Lam, Hanoi

December 2019

The Prime Minister approved VinUniversity project with 300 students

January 2020

The university council was established with Ms Le Mai Lan as the President and Professor Rohit Verma as the Founding Provost.

15 January 2020

VinUniversity's inauguration ceremony was held on its campus located at Vinhomes Ocean Park, Gia Lam, Hanoi.

February 2020

The Ministry of Education and Training issued VinUniversity its operating license.

June 2020

The University Admission Scheme for Academic Year 2020-2021 has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training for Undergraduate Programs.

July 2020

"- VinUniversity and Cornell University signed an agreement to provide Cornell students with a Study Away option at VinUni Campus. - The Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam granted the operating license officially allowing VinUniversity to offer academic programs."

September 2020

VinUni initiated the Study Away program via that VinUni has hosted 30 students from Cornell University and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) who were not able to travel to their home universities due to the pandemic.

VinUniversity reached agreements with corporate, partners and universities in the world

February 2021

VinUni granted funding to 16 Seed-Funding projects in AY 2020-2021. Among these 16 projects, at least 13 projects involved international collaboration.

May 2021

VinUni’s College of Business and Management established the Industry Advisory Board (IAB). The first 8 members of the IAB are all high-level leaders at leading corporations, The College of Business and Management has offered many programs to give students the most comprehensive experience of the real professional work environment. These include Industry Speaker Series, Industry Mentorship Program, 5 in 5 Internship, Summer Internship, etc

July 2021

VinUniversity Global Case Competition (VGCC) 2021 was officially launched. This is an annual competition organized by VinUniversity with support from Cornell University, in order to provide a platform for students to work on real-life problems.

August 2021

VinUniversity successfully reached cooperation agreements on the integrated Bachelor’s - Master’s program with University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, University of California, San Diego, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Technology Sydney, Australia.0

January 2022

VinUniversity opened Vietnam’s first Research Center for Biomedical 3D Printing to research and apply the world's latest 3D printing technology in the production of surgical biomedical materials, as well as models for teaching and research.

VinUniversity and Vincom Center For Contemporary Art (VCCA) hosted the “Future of Time” Art Workshop and Showcase, welcoming the presence of the Winners of the VinFuture Prize on its opening day.

VinUniversity held its first Career Day, with the participation of well-respected businesses like EY, KPMG, Toyota, Corning, AON, Salesforce, SSI, ACB, Viettel, and FPT, together with leading companies in the Vingroup ecosystem - Vinfast, Vinhomes, Vinmec, and VinAI.

May 2022

VinUniversity Entrepreneurship Lab, together with UpYouth, held TechYouth Start-up Day and announced the Incubator Program to support students’ tech startup projects.

June 2022

VinUniversity hosted the 1st Annual "Teaching and Learning Summit''. The event focuses on innovation in teaching and learning, to reshape Vietnamese higher education in the 21st century.

July 2022

VinUniversity announced its first Ph.D. in Computer Science program for the academic year 2022-2023, focusing on future technology with major impacts.

July 2022

VinUniversity and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign announced the opening of the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC), which focuses on interdisciplinary research in biotechnology and data science. VISHC was officially given 13,5 million USD in funding from Vingroup.

VinUniversity launched the physical Entrepreneur Lab (E Lab) and celebrated Entrepreneurship Week.

October 2022

VinUniversity Medical Simulation Center received Provisional Accreditation by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) - the world's largest accreditation organization specialized in healthcare simulation training.

October 2022

VinUniversity was the youngest university in the Asia - Pacific region to receive 5 Star QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ratings in 7 categories after only 2 years in operation.
